The government has announced that travelers who have completed the COVID-19 vaccination course with the Health Services Agency will no longer need PCR testing before boarding a plane to the Cayman Islands.
Quarantine protocols remain in place, and fully vaccinated persons returning to Cayman must isolate for 10 days. Unvaccinated persons must isolate for 14 days.
The government announcement applies specifically to travelers who have received the full course of vaccinations from HSA at least two weeks prior to air travel. PCR tests are still required for everyone else prior to their arrival to the Cayman Islands.
Other changes to government guidelines include an exemption for shelters. When shelters are being used for emergency purposes, such as in the case of a weather disaster, the limit of 500 persons on indoor gatherings will not apply. Hurricane season begins on 1 June.
As well, the government announced changes to regulations concerning social events related to carnival. These events can resume, but parades continue to be prohibited. Parties, stage shows, concerts, and other social events are now permitted but carnival parades are off-limits.
These amendments to COVID-19 regulations will remain in place until 15 July 2021. The government intends to carry on attending to public health measures, amending and extending restrictions for as long as necessary.
