Cayman Heart Fund becomes Cayman Heart Foundation; opens Community Health Centre with expansion of free service offering

On Friday 16th February, the Cayman Heart Fund announced that their name would be changing to Cayman Heart Foundation.

The announcement came during H.E. Governor Jane Owen’s tour of the Foundation’s new community health centre. Governor Jane Owen is also patron of Cayman Heart Foundation and emphasised the importance of this new community centre in helping with the health and wellness for people in Cayman along with her support, in a recent statement included an the article by Cayman Heart Foundation about the day:

“…I commend the Cayman Heart Foundation for its dedication to improving access to heart health services and education, and I am proud to stand alongside them in this endeavour.”

Cayman Heart Foundation Chairperson Maureen Cubbon noted, in her statement which was included in the article, that this expansion helps in the continuation of fulfilling the Foundation’s important mission:

…TO NOT ONLY RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HEART HEALTH BUT ALSO TO ACTIVELY ENGAGE WITH AND SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY IN ACHIEVING OPTIMAL WELL-BEING. BY OFFERING FREE HEART HEALTH SCREENINGS, WE AIM TO EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO TAKE PROACTIVE STEPS TOWARDS A HEALTHIER HEART.

The new community centre is located in Pasadora Place on Smith Road. Cayman Heart Foundation will extend the free services offered to encompass heart health screenings. These heart health screenings for the community consist of: blood pressure screenings, cholesterol tests, checking your glucose levels, analysis of your weight, BMI along with healthcare consultations.

Also offered at the community centre are CPR classes. They added that their ‘heart healthy lunch and learn sessions’ will be offered soon too.
