HSA Urgent Care ‘Walk-in’ Clinic now open 7-days a week

Last week Monday, 8th January 2024, marked the beginning of Health Services Authority (HSA) Grand Cayman Urgent Care ‘Walk-in’ Clinic’s extended opening hours, with the clinic now open 7 days a week.

In a release on their website earlier this month, HSA listed the Urgent Care Clinic as now being open:

  • Monday – Friday: 8am-8pm
  • Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays: 11am – 8pm

In a statement about the clinic now operating daily, Dr Shillingford, Head of Urgent Care at HSA, explained this is all a part of HSA’s continued efforts of “…ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible when it matters most…”

Along with timely access to any urgent care and treatment needed, he also explained it will also reduce the number of patients having to visit Accident & Emergency (A&E) who do not have serious, life threatening injuries; something that patients might have done previously if they had urgent concerns and needed treatment during the times the Urgent Care Clinic was closed.

“We want to cater to the needs of our patients by providing more flexible hours to suit their schedule while at the same time reducing the need for emergency room visits for non-life threatening conditions”

Dr Willmoth, Shillingford, Head of Urgent Care at HSA

HSA explains the Urgent Care Clinic offers cost-effective access and treatment for individuals who are sick and need to be seen the same day. This can include: viral infections, flu, fever, earaches, mild sprains, diarrhea, UTIs and skin rashes.

This differs from their General Practice Clinic and Accident & Emergency (A&E); General Practice being for routine check-ups, care of chronic conditions and preventative medicine and A&E for serious injuries and life-threatening situations.
